The Department of Biotechnology at the University of Juba aims to train a new generation of biotechnology professionals who can address the region’s pressing challenges — in healthcare, agriculture, environment and industry. Our programme blends foundational biotechnological theory, practical laboratory training and applied research, equipping students with the knowledge and skills to transform biological science into real-world solutions.

Academic Programme
The Department offers the Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Biotechnology (5 years) under the School of Applied & Industrial Sciences. The curriculum covers key areas including:
- Molecular biology, genetics and genomics
- Microbial biotechnology and bioprocessing
- Agricultural biotechnology (crop improvement, bio-fertilisers)
- Environmental biotechnology (bioremediation, waste management)
- Medical biotechnology and diagnostics
- Bio‐entrepreneurship, regulatory affairs and biosafety
- Major emphasis is placed on laboratory work, field/industry attachments, project research and real‐life biotechnology applications.

Graduates of the BSc (Hons) in Biotechnology will be ready for a diverse set of roles, including:

Admission Requirements & How to Apply
Undergraduate Admission RequirementsApplicants for the BSc (Hons) in Biotechnology must fulfil the following:
- Completion of the South Sudan Certificate of Secondary Education (SSCSE) or equivalent recognized qualification.
- Satisfactory passes in English, Mathematics and at least one science subject (preferably Biology, Chemistry or Physics).
- Strong academic performance in science and mathematics is preferred.
- International applicants must present recognised equivalent qualifications; all documents must be officially translated into English if needed.
How to Apply

2.Complete the form accurately, attach certified copies of academic transcripts/certificates, passport-sized photograph, and national ID/passport (for international applicants).
3.Pay the specified non-refundable application fee as indicated on the form.
4.Submit your completed application and attachments to:
